The Ministry of Education displayed an array of innovative technologies and modules at the "Future of Work" exhibition during the G20 Education Working Group Meeting. Among the exhibits were a model preschool education center, 3D printed models of various temples with virtual reality experiences, vernacular learning-based tech solutions, and cloud gaming. The exhibition also included a unique "Future of Work" experience zone that demonstrated the advanced technical skills required for future jobs.
The meeting focused on formalizing skill education in the schooling system, foundation literacy and numeracy, tech-enabled learning, the future of work, and research collaborations. The School Education Secretary, Sanjay Kumar, said that the Ministry aims to ensure that at least 50% of school students receive skill education by 2030, and the G20 deliberations will help establish a framework for formalizing skilling in mainstream education.
The meeting included workshops on the future of work and skill architecture, a conference on deep technology and transforming logistics for coastal economies, and a seminar on building capacities for lifelong learning. Ahead of the meeting, Indian stakeholders and delegates from Singapore shared best practices in skills and education and discussed the way forward in preparing a future-ready workforce.
The G20 Education Working Group Meeting is the third of its kind, with three supplementary meetings to be held before arriving at a consensus in June. The meeting took place in Odisha and included a visit to the Konark Sun Temple and exploration of Odisha's cultural heritage.
