The ban imposed by the West Bengal government on the controversial film "The Kerala Story" has been temporarily halted by the Supreme Court. However, the movie's return to cinemas in the state remains uncertain as multiplexes are focusing on showcasing newer releases.
The country's highest court lifted the state's ban on Thursday but requested the filmmakers to include a disclaimer stating that the movie is a "fictionalized version" and lacks authentic data to support the claim of 32,000 Hindu and Christian girls converting to Islam.
"The Kerala Story," featuring Adah Sharma and directed by Sudipto Sen, alleges that women from Kerala were coerced into converting to Islam and recruited by the terrorist organization Islamic State.
