The state working committees of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have initiated their discussions on strategies to secure victories in the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections.According to BJP leaders interviewed by ET, these meetings primarily aim to assess the preparations for the month-long celebration of nine years of the Modi government. However, given the impending assembly polls in certain states, the focus inevitably shifts to election preparations, particularly after the party's setback in Karnataka. On May 19, the BJP state working committee in Madhya Pradesh convened a meeting attended by key leaders, including Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan. Chouhan reportedly encouraged party workers and leaders, urging them not to be disheartened by the party's defeat in Karnataka.Chouhan addressed the party workers, stating, "Congress secured votes through an alliance with JD(S) in Karnataka, which led to their victory. In Madhya Pradesh, we face a direct contest between the BJP and Congress, with no such third party influence."Chouhan also announced that students who excel in the government higher secondary examination would receive e-scooters from the government. Additionally, he pledged to introduce new schemes to attract voters ahead of the elections.Meetings were also held on Sunday in Rajasthan and Bihar, two other crucial states for the BJP in the context of the 2024 general elections. In Jaipur, the BJP has decided to organize a protest against the state government in July. Following the working committee meeting, the party vowed to highlight corruption and internal disputes within the Congress in the lead-up to the polls.Arun Singh, the BJP's general secretary in charge of Rajasthan and also responsible for Karnataka, was present during the meeting. Singh stated, "Congress's guaranteed schemes played a role in their victory in Karnataka. From now on, the BJP will expose the Congress for its unfulfilled promises. They promised loan waivers and unemployment allowances in Rajasthan but have failed to deliver." Meanwhile, in Bihar, party leaders planned to launch a contact drive as part of the celebration of nine years of the Modi government.
