In a bid to encourage Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ban on high currency notes, BJP has registered stunning victory in two municipalities and one taluka panchayat in local bodies elections in Gujarat.
BJP has won the election with 23 seats out of 31 seats in various municipalities, taluka and district panchayats. Moreover, the party has also created history by capturing 41 out of total 44 seats in Vapi municipality of Valsad district.
In Surat, BJP has got a clean sweep in Kanakpur-Kansad municipality elections, claiming 27 out of 28 seats.
While Rajkot, has got 18 out of total 22 seats for BJP. The result assumes significance for the BJP in the run up to the state elections next year.
