Demonetisation: How Rahul Gandhi tears into PM Narendra Modi in Congress first poll rally

The Congress scion Rahul Gandhi has attacked BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on demonetisation yet again. Speaking at a rally for upcoming elections in Goa, Gandhi said note ban has only affected the poor and middle class, while the rich has get away with everything.

"If the BJP takes honest and genuine steps to eliminate corruption, the Congress party will 100 percent stand behind them. But they haven't done that. The demonetisation drive is waging war against India's people and its economy," he said.

"All cash is not black money and all black money is not cash. Most of the black money is stashed away in Swiss bank accounts. It's actually the poor people who have no choice but to use cash. By telling them one fine day that the money they have earned through hard work is just a piece of paper, Modi has delivered a big blow to the poor," Gandhi added.

In our country only 50 richest families own the majority of wealth in the country and those are the same people who have voted Modi to win elections. These are the same group of people who own black money in foreign banks. Note ban has not affected any of these people. "It's all just a charade that will neither eliminate black money nor corruption," Gandhi said.

Modi's last election campaign was focused on black money but the PM did not even mention about cashless economy. He was speaking about the money stashed in Swiss banks. People like Vijay Mallya and Lalit Modi are staying in London without any fear, why the government has not arrested any of them, Gandhi asked.
