Now you can fly on AADHAAR, ditch multiple IDs

AADHAAR based entry for airport authentication is going to be the reality at airports across the country soon. The Hyderabad airport has been running a pilot programme for allowing flyers to use AADHAAR card for authentication.

Earlier last year, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Hyderabad started to allow passengers to enter their Aadhaar number at a kiosk. The airport is planning to start the authentication on all the entry gates at the airport.

The government is not planning to make it mandatory for all the passengers to carry AADHAAR card for now, other physical IDs will also be valid at the airports.

"It's simple and successful. You just need to put in your Aadhaar number and the security personnel will be able to verify your details on the kiosk. We want to give seamless experience to the passengers," GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, CEO, SGK Kishore told media.

The AADHAAR authentication is likely to reduce the authentication time and delay in the process.
