NCC to celebrate its 74th Birth Anniversary

The National Cadet Corps (NCC), the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world, founded in 1948, and on November 27, 2022, it will mark its 74th birthday.

On November 26, 2022, Defense Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane visited the National War Memorial in New Delhi and lay a wreath in honour of the occasion. He also paid respects to the fallen soldiers on behalf of the entire NCC community.

Speaking at the event, the defence secretary stated that the NCC has grown dramatically over the past few years, with youth in uniform joining forces in every endeavour to support nation building.

All state capitals also observe the NCC Raising Day, with cadets taking part in cultural events, marches, and social development initiatives.

NCC cadets have made a significant and long-lasting impact on a variety of national initiatives, including the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, the largest cleanliness drive ever undertaken by a single organisation, as well as Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat camps, the Swachh Bharat campaign, Har Ghar Tiranga, and the Ex Yogdan (COVID Relief Campaign).

By accepting more than a lakh new cadets in recent years, the NCC has also expanded into the country's coastline and border regions. The kids from these places have been inspired by this to enlist in the military and support national development.

By sending its cadets abroad as part of Youth Exchange Programs (YEP) to more than 25 countries, the NCC has also served as a platform for leveraging international ties for more than four decades. Over the years, the NCC has hosted cadets from over 30 Nations under YEP who are from friendly foreign countries.

The NCC's multifaceted programmes and eclectic curriculum provide young people special chances to grow as individuals. Through their outstanding accomplishments in sports and adventure, numerous cadets have brought honour to the country and the organisation.
