Foxconn to Invest $500 Million in Manufacturing Plants in India, Creating 25,000 Jobs

The Minister of Information Technology for the southern Indian state of Telangana, K. T. Rama Rao, announced that Foxconn, a supplier for Apple Inc., will invest $500 million to establish manufacturing plants in the region. This venture is expected to generate 25,000 job opportunities during its initial phase, as stated in a tweet by Rao.

Earlier this year in March, Reuters reported that Foxconn had secured an order to produce AirPods for Apple and had plans to construct a factory in India for manufacturing these products. This move by Apple comes as a response to the disruptions caused by COVID restrictions in China, which impacted the production of new iPhones and other devices. Additionally, Apple aims to mitigate potential business challenges arising from the tensions between Beijing and Washington.

Furthermore, in late March, Foxconn obtained approval from the Karnataka government for a separate investment of $968 million in the state.
