Nepali Congress emerging as single-largest party
As of Friday, the coalition formed by Nepali Congress and headed by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is poised to gain a commanding majority in the country's legislative elections after securing 64 of the 118 available seats.

Direct voting will be used to elect 165 of the 275 members of the House of Representatives, while a proportional electoral system will be used to elect the other 110 members.

A party or a coalition needs 138 seats to win a clear majority.

After obtaining 39 seats all alone in the direct vote system, the Nepali Congress is expected to become the single-largest party.
