A senior minister declared on December 6, 2022, that Sri Lanka would soon resume flights from Chennai to the northern Jaffna peninsula.
The judgement would help Sri Lanka's suffering tourism industry and strengthen its ailing economy since the country's primary source of foreign exchange gains is the sector.
The epidemic, which started in 2020 and severely damaged the tourism industry, was one of the major contributors to Sri Lanka's economic issues.
